Why?
Young people are among those most affected by digital technologies, yet they are rarely meaningfully involved in the decisions that shape them - such as design, governance, or accountability. While many digital literacy initiatives focus on safe and responsible use, they often do not go far enough in helping youth actively engage with, influence, or co-create the technologies and policies around them. As a result, there remains a gap between widespread exposure to digital technologies and real influence over how they are designed and impact society.
Through education, policy engagement, and innovation labs, Tech for Youth seeks to equip young people with the knowledge, skills, and platforms to understand, critically assess, and shape technologies such as artificial intelligence, social media, and digital platforms. Our mission is to ensure that both current and future generations are not only digitally literate, but digitally empowered - able to move beyond passive use of technology and actively contribute to how it is designed, governed, and evolves.
What?
Artificial Intelligence
Tech for Youth explores how artificial intelligence is reshaping society, from generative AI and automated decision-making to questions of bias, accountability, and governance. We promote AI literacy and encourage critical understanding of both the opportunities and limitations of emerging technologies.
Social Media & Platform Economies
We examine how social media platforms and recommendation algorithms influence behavior, identity, and public discourse. Our work focuses on the attention economy, mental health impacts, including harmful content, online abuse, and platform-enabled risks.
Digital Rights, Privacy & Data Governance
Tech for Youth advocates for stronger digital rights and ethical technology governance. We focus on issues such as privacy, surveillance, data ownership, online profiling, and the balance between anonymity and accountability in digital spaces.
Misinformation & Information Integrity
We explore the spread of misinformation, deepfakes, and synthetic media, and their impact on trust and democratic processes. Our work highlights the importance of information literacy, responsible platforms, and informed digital citizenship.
Tech for Climate & Sustainability
We believe technology can be a powerful tool for climate action and sustainability. Our work explores AI for environmental monitoring, digital climate tools, green innovation, and the environmental impact of digital infrastructure and emerging technologies.
